Here in this article, we will share the details for the Star Citizen error code 30000.

The error reads “Connection lost. The game client has lost its connection to the game server.”

As per the official information shared by the developers, it is a general timeout error.

This error means that for some unknown reason, your device connection to the game servers timed out, but it is still connected to the backend platform service.

According to our research, there can be lots of reasons behind this error but there is one of these two situations:

  • Game servers are crashed or busy.
  • There are some issues with the game which is causing this connection disconnection problem.

Fix 1: Reboot Your Router Along With Your Device

As this is a connection disconnection issue you should first power cycle your network along with your gaming device to get rid of any temporary glitches.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

  • Shut down your router/modem.
  • Disconnect your router/modem from the Power source.
  • In case your router/modem has a battery, make sure to Remove the battery.
  • Then Shut down your gaming device and disconnect it from your power source.
  • Then Wait for around five to seven minutes.
  • Then Reconnect the router and device to the power source, and Restart them.
  • Then Wait till your devices fully restart.
  • At last launch the game and check for the error.

Fix 2: Connect Over A Wired Connection

If the error persists after power cycling your system then we suggest you to connect over a Wired connection.

If you have access to an ethernet cable and your gaming device is not too far from the router then we advise you to connect over a wired connection to check if this helps with the issue or not.


Fix 3: Are You Using A VPN?

In case you have access to a VPN and are currently using it then we advise you to disable your VPN and then check if this helps with the issue.

  • Navigate to (installed drive)\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE.
  • Then Delete the user folder.
  • Then Restart your device and check for the error.

Fix 5: Verify Game Files

  • Shut down your device and Restart it after a couple of minutes.
  • Open the RSI Launcher.
  • Go to the Settings.
  • Select the channel (LIVE, PTU, etc.) of the version of the game showing the errors.
  • Check and make sure the game install location matches the location where you have installed the game.
  • Select Verify.
  • Wait till the file verification process finishes.

Fix 6: Re-Login To The RSI Launcher

  • Log out of the RSI Launcher.
  • Close the RSI launcher.
  • Restart your device.
  • Re-launch RSI launcher.
  • Re-log into the RSI launcher.
  • Check if the error persists.

Note: Also make sure you do not run multiple launchers.


Fix 7: Check RSI Service Status

If you still receive the error then we advise you to visit the status.robertsspaceindustries.com and check if any of the RSI services are facing any issues, if so then this will likely be the reason for the error, and you should wait till things come back to normal.


Fix 8: Reinstall Star Citizen

In case all of the RSI services are working normally and there are no known issues then we advise you to reinstall the Star Citizen.

In order to have the proper reinstallation process you have to first delete RSI launcher and Star Citizen and then reinstall them.
